Hello guys; my name is Angie. Evangeline is one of my many musings but she is very special. Eva was created to bring awareness to the ongoing Genocide happening in Darfur, Sudan. This was and is the very first genocide of the twenty first century. It began in 2004 and is still ongoing today. I didn’t learn about this event until high school which made me want to create this character. Evangeline is not meant to make fun or anyone. I’m very open to crossovers and random tags, so please feel free to @ me whenever boredom strikes. I like to write action, obviously fantasy, and fluff. I’ve been on Twitter rp for quite some time now, but I spend a lot of my time on Instagram. I’ve made and lost contact with friends over the years, but I hope to write with everyone, even if we’ve just met! Role Play has been my sanctuary and a place where I can develop my skills as a writer. I’ve been rping since 2008 and hope to continue for more years to come. ♥️Something that should be noted. Eva is in a single shipped relationship with Ryan Wayne.I will not tolerate r!pe rp, automatic sm!t, inc*st or taboo.
Evangeline is a young girl from Darfur in the country of Sudan. She was born in 2004 and shielded from the raging Genocide for a few years. When she was four her family became a target of the Janjaweed. Eva, her older brother Zachariah and her parents found refuge in a sanctuary. For a few days they were safe but the sanctuary was eventually discovered and the people inside were r*ped and murdered. The teenagers and children, however, were not discovered and managed to survive. They lived in the back of the sanctuary until they were running low on food. Zachariah and two other teenagers left to search for food in the abandoned houses nearby and came across a UN convoy. Zach managed to convey to them that there were children in need of assistance in the sanctuary around the corner. With the soldiers help, the teenagers got everyone to safety, including Eva. Before zach could get onto the convoy, he was shot and the Janjaweed, in an effort to stop the trucks from leaving began to shoot at them. A soldier named Marco Rosales shielded Evangeline and others from the bullets while the other soldiers fired back. The UN convoy took the children they rescued to Paris where they would be safe. Evangeline and the others were placed in a French orphanage for a short time before one by one each of them got adopted. Eva was adopted by French socialites Gregor & Diane Harrow.
After living in Paris for only two years Gregor’s job took them to Gotham. By this time, Eva is only six years old.Over the next ten years she spends her time being privately tutored so she could learn to speak French and English, both vital to understand her adoptive parents and her adoptive country’s language. She was ten years old when she first saw The Batman and believed if Darfur had had a soldier like him, there would never have been a Genocide. At thirteen, she asked her adoptive parents if she could take martial arts and so they enrolled her into Taekwondo & Capoeira classes.By fifteen, she had designed and created a suit for herself, minus the bat symbol (she doesn’t put that on it until later).
Eva is currently seventeen and has been using her skills to protect others for two years. She has recently sewn a bat like symbol on her costume and has tried multiple times to get Batman to acknowledge her. She goes by Black Bird and named herself this because she relates to the Beatles song of the same name.

Headcanons for Eva
•Evangeline is the last remaining member of the Mot Family. However, there may be another survivor.•Eva’s language skills increased over the time she’s spent in the United States. She can confidently say she is 90% fluent in french and 70% fluent in English.•Eva does not call her adoptive parents “baba / umi (or ommi)” and instead calls them ma & pa. At first she had simply refused to use affectionate terms such as these but she has grown to love them.•She is protective of her younger adoptive brother, Sebastian. Having already lost a brother, she refuses to let anything happen to him and often falls asleep next to his crib.
Headcanons for Eva & Damian
•Damian & Evangeline speaking in Arabic when they’re together to confuse anyone who doesn’t know the language.•They eventually come up with their own secret code that only they understand.
One Offs
her footsteps were heavy and burdened. it had been thirteen years since she had seen any of her biological family, and now, she was the last. a man walked up to her carrying a box in his hands. “Miss Mot, thank you for coming.” the teenage girl kept her eyes gazing at the floor. they darted up at the stranger, “It’s Miss. Harrow now, actually…” she looked back down at the floor. “I didn’t think they’d be able to identify them.” a tear left her eye, and she wiped it away. “It took a long time, but I always keep my promises.” the man held his hand to her. Evangeline glanced back up at him again, taking a better look at his face. a small, sad smile spread across her matured face. this man pulled her onto the UN convoy truck as it was leaving and shielded her from taking a bullet. “It’s you—“ both of her hands took his. “I never got the chance to thank you for saving my life,” a pause. “thank you… thank you so much for protecting me.” the man smiled sadly at her. after shielding her from getting shot thirteen years ago, he had been taken off active duty to recover. he was later honorably discharged when he couldn’t complete his physical therapy. he squeezed her hand gently, “I would do it all over again, Miss. Harrow.” a soft sigh left her lips; she was more relaxed now that she knew this was someone she trusted. someone who had promised her, as other soldiers were taking her away, that he would find the rest of her family. “I asked you here because we identified your family…” he sighed sadly, “unfortunately, none remain alive that we know of. I’m so sorry,” as tears started to stream down her face, her hope to find her family alive had now faded. “you’ve identified them? You know it’s them for sure?” the man standing before her nodded and slowly held out the box in his arms to her. her hands released his and took the box. “This is all that’s left? Just a box?” he reached out to wipe her tears, then pulled away when she flinched.she was a "lucky" one.a young girl at the time who had fled and had been hidden by good samaritans, but what she witnessed had hurt her more than physical pain ever could. "Inside the box is urns... with ashes. tried to get them to contact you before they... but they didn't want you to see your family that way. You should be able to remember them the way they were before." Evangeline lifted the lid to the box and stifled her tears. Each urn was labeled "Josephine, beloved mother," "Lucas, beloved father," etcetera. the only family member that seemed to be missing was her elder brother, who had been shot trying to get Evangeline to safety. her legs seemed to wobble, and they slid out from underneath her svelte stature, leaving the girl on her knees. the former soldier knelt beside her as she started to sob. "You... didn't find Zachariah? Could he still be alive?" even as she asked this question, she knew the chances of her brother being alive after thirteen years were slim. her arms tighten around the box as she is taken back to simpler days. her brother, who was much older than her, waking her up and getting her ready for the day while their parents were at work. the echoed sounds of distant gunfire, each shot sounding closer and closer. her entire family lived under one roof; her pregnant aunt, her uncle, their three children Aisha, Amir & Kassim, her parents, and her older brother in a medium but modest house in Darfur. she remembers hiding under the table in the living room until she heard the screams of her parents, trying to look for her. the feeling of being so scared that she couldn't move... she was found by her brother, who knew her go-to place to hide was the living room. she remembers meeting up with the rest of the family and being handed over to their mother, Josephine. then, they split up and left their home in two different directions. 𝐍𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧.eva and her family found a sanctuary taking in those who fled. the adults remained in the front of the church while the children and the teenagers were hidden in the back rooms. days went by without incident until suddenly. the sanctuary was shot up. through the cracks in the door, Eva's brother saw men with guns enter and start to command everyone to get in line. if someone didn't listen, they were hit with the butt of a firearm or raped. In the sanctuary's backroom, the teenagers huddled around the children as the screams of their parents echoed outside. fortunately, they were not found out, but when the older children emerged, they found every adult in the building slaughtered. zachariah knew they would run out of food soon, so, with two other teens, they left to find sustenance in the nearby abandoned houses. while looking for something edible, they came across a UN convoy. "Please, you must take the children..." zachariah begged, pointing to the sanctuary. with the help of the UN soldiers, zachariah and the other teenagers got every child aboard the convoy. zachariah helped Eva up, giving her his hand-carved totem necklace that once belonged to their grandfather. "No, Z! You can't stay!" eva had screamed at him in the Fur language. "Don't make me go alone." she held his hand and tried to pull him aboard as the vehicle began to move. men standing down the road behind zachariah started to shoot at the convoy as they tried to run to catch up. as the older brother, it was his responsibility to protect his sister. she remembers her heart and spirit breaking as zach released her hand. she remembers ducking as a soldier turned her away from the gunfire. the voice of that same soldier brings her back. "It's okay, Eva. It's okay; you're safe here." the teen's hands released the box momentarily, and she wiped her tears away. evangeline put the lid back on and lifted the box of urns off the ground. "Thank you... for finding them, my friend." he stood up slowly and watched as her tearful face suddenly became stoic. "I promised you I would.
We're still searching for your brother. Are you sure you're-" he reaches his hand out."I'm alright, Mr. Rosales. I have to get home now." She holds the box close to her chest as she walks away. “Goodbye.”
